Project Three
   Confession /
Personal Narrative
Objectives
1. Gotta be based in the real.
2. Include signifying details.
3. Non-transferable.

All of these elements allows your audience to empathize.

It's helpful at least to write first. But you can create a written piece, perform spoken word, record a video, photography, mixed media. You're choice.

“Good writing isn’t necessarily truthful,
however it has to be honest.”
– Mr. Donoval
Sophie Calle, True Stories, https://www.printedmatter.org/catalog/44967/
To clarify:
Does it have to be 'heavy'? No.
Does it have to be 'serious'? No.

I encourage you to use beauty and humor to bring us into your piece. As audience members, we tend to put our guard up when things start off deep or heavy. Levity is one of the best tools you can use to let us in.

10 Min Exercise
What's your biggest pet peeve?
Send it to me in an email.
Are you gonna see me when light gets dark?
The sun goes down over Gramercy Park
And it's become easy to hide pieces away
Making up someone in the hope that you'll stay
'Cause I've been trying to be everything I think you want me to be
I've been doing all the things that I think you wanna see
I've been trying to fulfill you with your every need
Now you falling for a person that's not even me
Said you falling for a person that's not even me
(Give me the beat)
Now you falling for a person that's not even me
Don't get me wrong, I wasn't out to deceive
I like the attention with your eyes on me
The trouble with the truth is it's so hard to believe
Now here I stand with my heart on my sleeve
And I've been trying to be everything I think you want me to be
I've been doing all the things that I think you wanna see
I've been trying to fulfill you with your every need
Now you falling for a person that's not even me
Said you falling for a person that's not even me
(Give me the beat)
Now you falling for a person that's not even me
Now you falling for a person that's not even me
'Cause I forgot about the person that I used to be

But what about visuals?
What new layers of meaning can you add with images?
Just keep writing.
What's on your mind?
Recap
1. Gotta be based in the real.
